I once went on a tour of the scenic places in Lagos State’s Free Trade Zone with a client, and he was astonished to see the magnitude and rapid rate of development happening there, Ibeju Lekki. This made such an impression on him that he struck a deal with me immediately.
Here’s how it all happened…
On a rainy morning he called me while I was in the middle of a meeting, introducing himself as “Mr. Nwosu” (not real name).
I asked what I could do to help him, and he said he was referred to me by an old client of mine, based in Lekki, with whom I’d become close friends. That broke the ice and we were soon exchanging friendly banter.
He told me he had investments within and outside Nigeria, and that he had heard a lot about me – especially (what he called) my “honest approach and habit of keeping my promises in doing real estate business.
He said this was what made him contact me – from where he was in the USA (at the time). We talked at length about the size and value of his capital investments and assets he owned, especially, in Dubai and the UK. Especially noteworthy was the fact that he paid so much to service them, despite not being based in those countries.
